Government of Madhya Pradesh has appointed Professor Sachin Chaturvedi as Vice Chairman in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis, Bhopal. Prof. Chaturvedi will also be the Ex-officio Vice Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Rajya Niti Evam Yojna Aayog.Pro. Chaturvedi will have the status of cabinet minister.
It is noteworthy that recently, the post of Vice Chairman has been created in the institute by the state government after abolishing the post of Director General. Along with this, two new posts in the institute – the posts of Chief Executive Officer and Additional Chief Executive Officer have also been created.
Professor Sachin Chaturvedi
Professor Sachin Chaturvedi is currently Director General at a New Delhi-based Think-Tank, Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS). He was also a Global Justice Fellow at the Macmillan Centre for International Affairs, Yale University. He has expertise in development cooperation policies and issues related to South-South cooperation. He has also worked on trade and innovation linkages with a special focus on the World Trade Organization. Professor Chaturvedi has served as a Visiting Professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). He has also served as consultant to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, World Bank, UN-ESCAP, UNESCO, OECD, Commonwealth Secretariat, IUCN and the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and Ministry of Environment and Forests etc. He is also a Member, Board of Governors, Reserve Bank of India.
Prof. Sachin Chaturvedi was a Developing Country Fellow at the University of Amsterdam (1996), visiting Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla (2003) and Visiting Scholar at the German Development Institute (2007). His work experiences also include services at the University of Amsterdam in relation to international development cooperation and a project on biotechnology for developing countries, for which support was provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Netherlands. Dr Chaturvedi has also been a member of the IGSAC Committee of Experts set up to develop a framework for cooperation on the conservation of biodiversity in the SAARC region. In addition to this, He has been a member of the editorial board of the Biotechnology Development Monitor (Netherlands) and editor of the Asian Biotechnology Development Review (New Delhi).
