Minister of State for Farmers’ Welfare & Agriculture Development and Public Service Management Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh has urged people not to regard daughters inferior to sons. Daughters benefit two families, he added. Shri Singh was inaugurating a girls high school in Panna district on Sunday. Shri Singh also performed Kanya Poojan and distributed National Savings Certificates under Ladli Laxmi Yojna.
Shri Singh said that the State Government has implemented schemes like Ladli Laxmi, Mukhyamantri Kanyadan, Girls Literacy Promotion and Gaon Ki Beti Yojna for girls’ protection and development in the state. Free text-books, uniforms, cycles etc. are also being made available to girl students.
Senior citizens are respectable for us
Minister of State Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh also interacted with villagers the same day by organising a chaupal at Gram Panchayat. He said that senior citizens have always been respectable for us. Senior citizens above 60 years of age who are not income tax payers can avail benefit of Mukhyamantri Teerth-Darshan Yojna. The State Government is making available all the services free of cost under the scheme for journey to and from pilgrim centres, food, lodging, treatment etc.
Subsidy on electricity
Minister of State for Agriculture Shri Singh informed that beside feeder separation, the State Government is also electrifying every Majtra-Tola in the state by March 2013. Following this, 24-hour power to domestic consumers and minimum 8-hour to farmers will be supplied. The State Government is extending subsidy worth Rs. 1.50 lakh on connections, which are to be given in fields and small habitats after installing additional electricity poles. The applicants for connection will have to spend a total of Rs. 25 thousand only. The State Government has also decided to waive half of electricity bills of BPL farmers and allow them to deposit remaining amount in three to six instalments. Power supply will be started wherever people will pay outstanding dues of electricity bills and are ready to take new connections, he said.
