Bhopal : The State Government has instituted Mukhyamantri Khiladi Kalyan Kosh for the welfare of all the present and past excellent players of all the sports in the state. For this purpose, Rs. one crore has also been allocated to the fund. Coordinators of Mukhyamantri Khiladi Kalyan Kosh may collect funds for the purpose. A maximum of Rs. 2 lakh and minimum of Rs. 10 thousand assistance can be sanctioned for the welfare of a present or past player at one time.
The committee constituted for running the fund will be headed by the Chief Minister while Sports and Youth Welfare Minister will be its vice-president. Additional Chief Secretary/Principal Secretary/Secretary Sports & Youth Welfare and four players of the state including a woman player will be the members and Director Sports & Youth Welfare will be the committee’s Member-Secretary.
Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced to institute this fund at the conclusion of 64th Obaidullah Khan Gold Cup Hockey Tournament at Bhopal on March 29, 2010. Rs. one crore will be deposited in the fund once by the State Government.
Provisions of Mukhyamantri Khiladi Kalyan Kosh
The term of excellent player under Mukhyamantri Kalyan Kosh will mean a player who has secured the first, the second or the third place an authorised national championship or has won a medal in an authorised international championship or has represented the country at least twice. Wife or husband of the player, mother, father, daughter, who are totally dependent on the player, will be eligible for assistance from the fund. Sons and daughters will be eligible for financial assistance even after marriage.
In case the Union Government does not provide or makes less financial assistance available to excellent players to undergo specialised coaching for Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, World Cup, World and Asian Championships, then financial assistance will be made available to such a player from Mukhyamantri Khiladi Kalyan Kosh. Disability pension will be made through Health & Family Welfare Department or Medical Education Department through fund to present and past international level excellent players, who have suffered permanent disability while playing or making preparation for taking part in competitions or in an accident.
Excellent players parents, wife, husband, unmarried sons and daughters fully dependent on the player whose income from all sources does not exceed Rs. three lakh per annum will be entitled for financial assistance for undergoing treatment under the guidelines of the Public Health & Family Welfare Department or Medical Education Examination.
General fund can also be provided to senior players through the funds. Those players of the state who have won medal in international competitions can be given monthly assistance. Monthly assistance of Rs. 15 thousand will be given to an Olympics gold medalist, Rs. 12 thousand per month to silver medalist and Rs. 10 thousand per month to bronze medalist. A gold medal winner of Asian Games will be provided Rs. 10 thousand per month, silver medalist Rs. 7,500 and bronze medalist Rs. 5000 per month. A player who has won a gold medal in a world championship will be given Rs. 7,500 per month, silver medal winner Rs. 5,000 and bronze medal winner Rs. 2,500 per month.
Institution of Mukhyamantri Khiladi Kalyan Kosh a good step
Former Olympian and Arjuna awardee Shri Ashok Dhyanchand has hailed the institution of Mukhyamantri Khiladi Kalyan Kosh. Describing it as a better step taken by the Chief Minister towards welfare of sports persons, he said that such an initiative was much-needed.

Welcoming the decision, they have said that the Chief Minister deserves congratulation for this.
