Seoni and Hoshangabad districts were felicitated e-World Award-2011 for taking special initiatives in communication and information technology sector. Both the districts were given away the awards during e-World Forum held at New Delhi on August 2. The award has been instituted with a view to accepting and recognizing an innovative step in use of communication and information technology in development.The Secretary to the Union Ministry for Communication and Information Technology Shri R. Chandrashekhar and Additional Secretary to Information Technology Department Government of India Shri Shankar Agrawal conferred the awards on these two districts. The awards were received by Hoshangabad District Collector Shri Nishant Varvade and NIC Officer Shri Neeraj Bhatnagar on behalf of Seoni’s the then Collector Shri Manohar Dubey. The awards were given for prestigious global ICT’s initiative in this sector.
The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Principal Secretary Information Technology Shri Deepak Khandekar have greeted the Collectors of both the districts and their team members for this commendable achievement.
In first category, Sewamitra Samadhan Kendra of Seoni received excellent e-district award for promoting and adopting ICT. The district has taken initiatives to provide services to the common man through communication and information technology at Gram Panchayat level through this centre. It improved the transparency, access to government services, its effectiveness and quality. Besides, pace of early disposal of grievances and implementation of various schemes has been speeded up due to this effort in the district. In second category, Vatsalya Navachar of Hoshangabad district was given away the award for taking initiative to expand health services through the use of information technology. Under the Vatsalya project, malnutrition is being monitored in the district. Vatsalya software has been developed in order to monitor malnutrition stage of child from 0 to 5 years of age and follow up treatment after the admission of malnourished child to rehabilitation centre. The district’s ICT innovation health care project is being conducted through the website http://www.vatsalyahoshangabad.org/. Weight of infants is registered online apart from issuing special ID number to the infants.
It may be mentioned that many public welfare works are being executed with good governance and transparency through the application of communication and information technology. Through the ICT adopted in the State, the grievances of general public are also being addressed constantly. The State’s innovative and outstanding efforts in the field of ICT have been lauded at national level, it has also got several national and international awards.
