Bhopal:Sunday, March 18 : Along with Hathaikhera Dam, Ghorapachhad Dam will also be developed as a tourism spot. Urban Administration & Development Minister Shri Babulal Gaur along with officers of various departments and people’s representatives inspected both the dams today.
During the inspection, Shri Gaur said that initially, a scheme is being chalked out by various departments to develop Hathaikhera Dam as a tourist spot. A two-lane road will be built via Kokta Transport Nagar to link Hathaikhera and Ghorapachhad dams. This will also facilitate city commuters.
During the inspection of Hathaikhera Dam, Shri Gaur said that a campaign will be launched to remove silt from the dam from April 8 with people’s cooperation and voluntary labour. Shri Gaur instructed to develop an island near immersion and drains for dam’s safety. He instructed to curb illegal mining and encroachments near the dam. The Urban Administration Minister instructed the Revenue Department for early land marking of the dam.
A Tourism Department officer informed that a floating jetty will be set up for making tourism facility available in Hathaikhera Dam. Besides construction of a cafeteria, attractive fountains will also be set up. CPA will undertaken plantation around the dam.
Bhopal Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shri Rajneesh Shrivastava, Superintending Engineer, CPA, Shri Ahirwar and Superintending Engineer, PWD, Shri Akhilesh Upadhyay, social worker Shri Raghunandan Singh Rajput and officers of Tourism, Fisheries, Water Resources, PHE etc were also present on the occasion.
