Public Relations Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma bestowed Ganesh Shankar Vidhyarthi Awards on senior journalists and photographers here today. He also gave away Ganesh Shankar Vidhyarthi Social Service Awards to social workers. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sharma said that as alert sentinels of society, journalists should keep a close watch over development and welfare works and also co-operate with the government in creative efforts.
At the function, Shri K.K. Agnihotri, Shri Mahendra Gagan, Shri Sikandar Ahmad, Shri Rajesh Chanchal, Shri Raj Kumar Awasthi, Shri Yogesh Tiwari, Shri Sudhir Soni, Shri Arun Tiwari, Shri Alok Singhai, Shri Bhole Gupta, Shri Ramnarayan Tamrakar, Dr. Naveen Joshi, Shri Satyavrat Chaturvedi, Shri Rizwan Khan, Shri Satish Tewre, Shri Errol Williams, Shri A.N. Chaukse and Shri Vinod Suryavanshi were honoured with Ganesh Shankar Vidhyarthi Awards.
Ganesh Shankar Vidhyarthi Social Service Award were given away to Shri Prahlad Das Mangal, Shri Premnarayan Premi, Shri Santosh Sahu and Smt. Vaishali Gupta.
On the occasion, a symposium was also held on the topic “Increasing corruption and media’s responsibility. The symposium was addressed by Dr. O.P. Mishra, Shri Krishna Nagpal, Shri R.M.P. Singh and Shri Pushpendra Singh. The programme was organised by Ganesh Shankar Vidhyarthi Journalism Research and Training Foundation. It was conducted by the foundation’s chairman Shri Om Prakash Hyaran. Senior journalist Shri Dinesh Joshi proposed a vote of thanks.
