Bhopal: Mahabodhi Utsav and Sanchi Mela will be held from November 25 to 27 at Sanchi. Reviewing preparations of the festival, Public Relations and Culture Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma said that knowledge should also be spread about the country’s culture to the tourists coming for Darshan of Lord Buddha.
The Culture Minister informed that Bhakti Sangeet programme will be held on November 25 in which Sarvashri, Vipin Sachdeva, Anup Jalota and Agnihotri Brothers will perform while poets Sarvashri Kunwar Bechain, Arun Jaimini, Vishnu Saxena, Gajendra Solanki, Dhuvendra Bhadauria, Shivom Ambar, Ashok Chakradhar, Udaipratap Singh, Ashok Sundarrani, Manveer Madhur, Neha Ved, Kavita Kiran and Urmila Shrivastava will recite their poetry in the Kavi Sammelan. Similarly on November 26, Yashodhara dance drama of Delhi, dances of Buddhist traditions of Sri Lanka, Japan and Sikkim, Gond tribal dance of Dindori, Baredi dance of Bundelkhand, Gangaur of Nimar, Matki of Malwa and Dalhai folk dance of Orissa will be staged. On November 27, dances of Buddhist traditions of Sri Lanka, Sikkim and Orissa, dances of Mutt and Buddhist traditions of Arunachal Pradesh, drama based on the life of Lord Buddha in Odissi dance style by Vasavdutta Group and presentation by Grah Tyag Nagpur will be staged. An exhibition depicting cycles of Lord Buddha’s life in wood carvings, another exhibition with the cooperation of Archaeology Museum and a state-level exhibition will be organised by Public Relations Department with the cooperation of Survey of India, Sanchi will be organised.
The Culture Minister Shri Sharma instructed to ensure 20 KV power connection for the festival from November 22 to 27 from Madhya Pradesh Central Region Power Distribution Company. He also instructed to ensure better sanitation arrangements with the cooperation of local people. People’s representatives and officers were present on the occasion.
