Bhopal:Tuesday, January 10 : The state cyber police arrested 32 persons in 23 cases during the year 2011-12. FIRs have been registered in 63 cases this year. Cyber police have been constituted in Bhopal for effective control over and investigation into information technology-related crime in the state. Entire Madhya Pradesh is under the jurisdiction of cyber police.
The state cyber police investigate information technology-based complaints after registering cases in various districts. A total of 1326 complaints were received by the state cyber police during the year 2011-12 out of which FIRs have been registered in 63 cases. The state cyber police achieved one of their major successes by arresting the three persons accused of infamous Rs. 17 lakh Kotak Mahindra Bank fraud case in 2011 within 72 hours and also recovered the entire booty.
Best Cyber Cop of India
‘Best Cyber Cop of India’ award was bestowed on the state cyber police in the year 2011 for effective investigation into IT-based crimes.
A web portal is being launched by the state cyber police for making the common man aware of IT-based crimes and taking their complaints directly to the cyber police. With the help of this web portal, the common man will be able to register his complaint directly to the state cyber police soon apart from tipping the cops off important pieces of information.
The state cyber police are not only extending help to the district police personnel in solving cyber crimes registered in various police stations in the districts, but are also imparting them necessary training.
