Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan laid the foundation stone of Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences, country’s first skill development university at Indore today. Courses will begin from year 2016 in the university. A target has been set by the university to impart skill development education to 5000 students in 5 years. In the first phase, Rs. 1.50 crore will be spent on university’s construction.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the country will have a new identity in the world with establishment of this university by Symbiosis. He said that top priority will be given to education, health and tourism development sectors during Global Investors Summit to be held at Indore on October 8-9. Shri Chouhan said that School Chalen Ham Abhiyan will be launched in the state from June 16. He said that children will be made worthy citizens by educating them properly. Employment opportunities will be made available to youths through education.
Shri Chouhan informed that Madhya Pradesh has achieved 11.25 growth rate, which is a record. He also informed that agriculture growth rate has increased to 24.99 percent, which is maximum in the country. Shri Chouhan also planted a sapling on the premises.
Symbiosis Foundation’s vice-chairperson Dr. Swati Mazumdar informed that construction of the university will commence in 2-3 months. She informed that in the first phase, degrees will be awarded in automobile, construction, manufacturing, retail, banking, finance and IT will be given and in the second phase in pharmaceutical, textiles, health-care and bio-medical science. Degree courses for grooming students as per industries’ requirements will also be started. Research work will also be done apart from graduation, post-graduation and short-term courses.
It was also informed that Symbiosis means “Staying together for mutual interests”. In year 1971, academic Padmabhushan Dr. Shantaram Balwant Mazumdar had established Symbiosis to give feeling of home to foreign students away from their homes. Over 30 thousand students including those from 80 countries are pursuing education in various faculties in 17 Symbiosis premises like Pune, Bengaluru, Hydrabad and Noida. Besides, Symbiosis also imparts education through remote education programme in diverse subjects like management, law, IT, engineering, health science, communications, social science etc. Symbiosis is counted among best universities. Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya, founder Chairman of Symbiosis Shri S.B. Mazumadar, MLAs, other public representatives and distinguished citizens were present on the occasion.
