Sagar,June 20:Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Protection and Backward Class and Minorities’ Welfare Minister Shri Akhand Pratap Singh inaugurated 100-seater post matric backward class hostel at Sagar yesterday. The hostel has been constructed at a cost of Rs 89 lakh. He also participated in the district level convention of backward class representatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Akhand Pradesh Singh said that a number of people from Bundelkhand had laid down their lives in freedom struggle. The Bundelkhand region, which has contributed a lot in India’s freedom struggle, is yet to get its rightful due. He urged the writers to contribute in Bundelkhand region by highlighting the sacrifices made by martyrs of this region. He said that in the times to come, only literate and wise people would rule. Therefore, it is imperative for parents of backward class children to impart good education and training to them. The present state government has undertaken works for the uplift of all sections of society. A number of welfare schemes have also been launched for the welfare of backward class people. The state government is ensuring that the students belonging to backward classes also get scholarships and hostel facility like their SC, ST counterparts. Besides, coaching facility has also been arranged to enable them appear at U.P.S.C. and P.S.C. examinations. Provision has been made to give them incentive after selection.
Presiding over the programme, MLA Smt. Sudha Jain said that apart from infrastructure development, the state government is also striving to provide basic amenities to the masses. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has convened Panchayats of every section of society to know and solve their problems. In the same series, the Chief Minister would convene a Panchayat of the poor people belonging to general category on June 22 and redress their problems. She said that the state government has giving special attention to education and launched various schemes to promote girls’ education.
