Bhopal:Saturday, April 26:Weddings of 76 couples were solemnised under Mukhya Mantri Kanyadan Samoohik Vivah Yojana of Deendayal Antodaya Mission under the aegis of Chhindwara Nagar Palika at Chhindwara Polo Ground yesterday. The marriage procession taken out from Town Hall was led by Public Health Engineering Minister Choudhary Chandrabhan Singh while chairmen of various committees, corporators, other dignitaries, parents of brides and grooms and government officers and employees acted as hosts and members of the wedding party as well.
Some of the grooms were riding horses while others reached the Polo Ground premises where their weddings were solemnised with Vedic rites by the Acharyas of Gayatri Parivar, Chhindwara. On this occasion, the PHE Minister and other distinguished citizens blessed the newly wed couples and wished for their bright future and happy married life.
Those who carried out responsibilities of both hosts and members of the wedding party included PHE Minister Choudhary Chandrabhan Singh, Nagar Palika chairman Shri Kanhairam Raghuvanshi, Vijay Pandey and other distinguished citizens as well as public representatives. They also served food to the members of the wedding party and later ate the feast along with them.
Speaking on the occasion, Choudhary Chandrabhan Singh said that the Chief Minister, Shri Shivraj Singh has taken the pledge to make girls a boon for their families instead of burden and as part of fulfillment of this pledge, several welfare schemes for girls have been launched right since their birth to education and marriage. On one hand the Ladli Laxmi Yojana make a girl Lakhpati and on the other marriages of all the daughters of poor families would be solemnised free of cost. He informed that last year weddings of 40 thousand girls belonging to poor families were solemnised free of cost. The state government is fulfilling Mahatama Gandhi’s dream of Swaraj as well as following the ideals of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya by ensuring welfare and development of villagers, poor people, labourers and women etc.
Weddings and Nikahs of 112 couples in Harrai and Parasia
Meanwhile, at a mass marriage ceremony held at Janpad Panchayat Parasia, 47 couples tied nuptial knot. Local MLA discharged the responsibility of host as well as member of wedding party. While 43 marriages were solemnised as per Hindu rites, four Nikahs of Muslim couples were also performed. Similarly, 55 couples tied nuptial knot at Harrai and Dhanora.
