Bhopal:Wednesday, December 16 : A two-day workshop on the subject ‘Tribal healthcare: situation, challenges and possibilities’ will be organised at RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration on December 17 & 18 by Tribal Research and Development Institute, Shamla Hills, Bhopal.
The workshop will be inaugurated by SC, ST Welfare Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah at 10 am on December 17 while the function will be presided over by former Madhya Pradesh chief secretary Shri RP Kapoor. Former vice-chancellor of Ranchi University Prof. Sachchidanand will deliver a special lecture during this session. There will be seven sessions including the inauguration and conclusion during the two-day workshop.
Madhya Pradesh is the biggest state from the point of view of tribal population. Scheduled tribes form 20 percent of the total population of the state. Healthcare in tribal areas has been a big challenge before the state government. Tribal areas are ridden with the problems of nutritious food and mother mortality. Some tribal clans are also identified with some specific diseases. With these facts in view, experts of concerning subjects, researchers and members of voluntary organisations will hold discussions.
Former Madhya Pradesh chief secretary Shri KS Sharma will preside over the concluding session of the workshop. Professor of sociology of Delhi University Dr. Virginius Xaxa will deliver a special lecture during this session. Those who will be specially present during this session will include director of Tribal Research and Development Institute Smt. IM Chahal, Director General of Academy of Administration Dr. Sandeep Khanna, Director General of School of Good Governance and Policy Analysis Dr. HP Dixit, Principal Secretary of SC, ST Welfare Department Shri Devraj Virdi and Secretary Shri VK Batham. Shri Akhilesh Argal will coordinate the programme.
