Bhopal:April 1, With a view to creating an all round conducive atmosphere for medical education, the state government has decided to provide stipends and scholarships to poor medical students. For this, provision to the tune of Rs one crore has been made during the current financial year which has started from today.
One of the examples of state government’s sincere efforts for promoting medical education in the state is that this year budget allocation for medical education has been increased by Rs seven crore 91 lakh 76 thousand. Last year total budgetary allocation under this head was Rs 155 crore 51 lakh which has been increased to Rs 163 crore 42 lakh 81 thousand this year.
The decision to provide stipends and scholarships to medical students would go a long way in making their future bright apart from saving them from adverse financial constraints. The benefit of this scheme would be extended to those meritorious students who have secured more than 80 percent marks in class XII examinations and are pursuing admission in medical education provided their families’ yearly earnings are less than Rs 75,000 or have less than 10 acres of arable land.
