Bhopal:Thursday, July 23, 2009: Housing & Environment Minister Shri Jayant Malaiya performed bhumi poojan for construction of extension block of Pollution Control Board. Local MLA Shri Dhruv Narayan Singh, other people’s representatives, departmental officers and distinguished citizens were present on the occasion.
After performing the bhumi poojan with religious rites, Housing & Environment Minister Shri Malaiya said that after construction of this extension block, there will be separate buildings for headquarter and regional office. This will suffice for requirements of both the offices and facilitate employees in discharging their duties.
Earlier, Housing & Environment Minister Shri Malaiya was welcomed by department’s Principal Secretary and chairman of the Board Shri Alok Shrivastava and EPCO’s Executive Director Smt. Kalpana Shrivastava. The welcome address was delivered by Board’s member-secretary Shri RK Jain. Superintending Engineer Shri RK Shrivastava proposed a vote of thanks. The programme was conducted by senior science officer Dr. Rita Kori.
The extension block will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.80 crore. It will be three-storeyed with 15 thousand feet built-up area. A 1970 square metre plot has been earmarked for construction of this extension block in Paryavaran Parisar. It has been planned and designed by EPCO’s architect. The building has been planned in such a way that it will have maximum natural light and air drought. Arrangements of rainwater harvesting, sewerage treatment and disposal have also been planned. In the proposed building’s layout, norms of Town & Country Planning and Municipal Corporation have been observed. The building will also have facilities of indoor games and conference hall. Landscaping and approach road will also be constructed in the outer area of the plot. This work will be undertaken by Capital Project Administration.
After construction of this extension block, ample space and facilities will become available for Board’s headquarter and regional office. Besides, it can also accommodate Board’s laboratory, which commands national repute. Important contributions have been made in the construction of this extension block by Town & Country Planning, Bhopal Municipal Corporation and EPCO.
