Bhopal:Wednesday, August 13, 2008: Special feast would be organised in the schools all over the state to mark the Independence Day on August 15. In the special feast being organised under the Mid-day Meal Programme, the menu items to be served to the students include either sabzi-puri-kheer or sabzi-puri-halwa.
In addition to this, they would also be served laddus. The proposed special feast is being organised for the students of the government and government aided primary and middle schools.
The Coordinator, Mid-day Meal Programme, Shri Sachin Sinha informed that directives have been issued to all the district collectors and chief executive officers with regard to preparations of the special feast on Independence Day in their respective jurisdictions. It has been stated in the directives that the district collectors and the chief executive officers should necessarily participate in the special feast visiting any school in their respective districts and district panchayats and join the children in the feast. It has been added in the directives that the chief guest of the main function of the Independence Day shall also join the students in the special feast. Similarly, district and block level officers have been directed to visit at least one school and participate in the special feast along with the school children.
In compliance with the aforesaid directives, the district collectors and chief executive officers too have issued guidelines to the district education officers, district project coordinators of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan asking them to compulsorily organise special feast under the Mid-day Meal Programme on August 15 in their respective districts. Further, block resource coordinator and in-charge of Jan Shiksha Kendra have been assigned with the responsibility of monitoring of this special event.
