Bhopal:Thursday, June 11 : The Satpura tiger reserve is organising health camps on June 12 and 13 for the people residing in and around Churna village in Bori sanctuary in Hoshangabad and Anjandhana village in Pachmarhi sanctuary. The health check-up and treatment camps will be organised with the cooperation of Mumbai-based Americure India Foundation. The five-member health team will be led by famous specialist doctor of Mumbai Dr Purvish Parikh. The team will check and treat residents of about 700 villages. Help of local health department is also being sought in organising these camps.
A number of forest and revenue villages are situated within the periphery of Satpura tiger reserve. These villages experience bouts of epidemics and seasonal diseases especially during summer and monsoon season. With summer at its peak and monsoon round the corner, the tiger reserve officers have decided to hold these camps. With the objective that maximum number of people are benefited, 400 to 500 villagers of Saket, Khakapura, Churna, Malni, Mana, Suplai, Mallupura, Khadma, Jhalai, Podar, Jam, Bhadbhud, Ratibandar, Sankai and Kankdi will be checked up and treated at Chuna camp while the Anjandhana health camp will cover 300 to 400 residents of 10 villages including Anjandhana, Nayakhera, Nandner, Dhargaon, Birjikhapa, Raikhera, Parraspani, Kuker, Sonpur and Nankot. It may be mentioned that these areas become inaccessible during the monsoon season. Therefore, these health camps at this juncture will go a long way in protecting villagers against various diseases and epidemics during the rainy season.
Similar camps were held last year as well by the Satpura tiger reserve administration which yielded encouraging results.
