Bhopal,October 22 : The Satpura Adventure Sports Festival 2009 will be organised from October 23 to 30 at famous tourist spot Patalkot under Tamiya development block in Chhindwara district. The festival is being organised with the cooperation of District Olympic Association, Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation and Madhya Pradesh Eco-tourism Development Board. The adventure sports will include paragliding and hot-air balloon. This information was given by Chhindwara district collector Shri Nikunj Kumar Shrivastava today.
He said that about 400 students including 200 from Bhariya tribal community will take part in these adventure sports. Deputy Conservator of Forests of Human Resources Development Centre Shri Sunil Bakshi has been made incharge of the event.
During this period, Madhya Pradesh Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation will organise a state level fair where Forest, Tribal Development and Rural Development departments will put up their stalls. A souvenir highlighting features of Patalkot and other areas will also be released.
Minister for SC, ST Welfare Shri Jagannath Singh will be the chief guest at the inaugural function of the festival on October 24 at noon while it will be presided over by minister incharge of the district and Public Health Engineering and Cooperative Minister Gauri Shankar Bisen. Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Forests, Biodiversity, Biotechnology and Mineral Resources Shri Rajendra Shukla, chairman of Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation Shri Dhruv Narayan Singh and other dignitaries will also be present on the occasion.
The festival will conclude on October 30 at 2 pm at Patalkot where Union Surface Transport Minister Shri Kamal Nath will be the chief guest while Minister for Tourism, Sports and Youth Welfare Shri Tukojirao Puar will preside over the function.
