Bhopal:Saturday, July 5:On the recommendation of wildlife institute of India a wildlife sanctuary in 92.331 sq. k.m. area would be created at kastthivada of Alirajpur distt. A detail proposal in this regard has been given clearance at a high level meeting held here at Narmada Valley Development Authority head Quarters. The meeting chaired by the Chairman NVDA Shri Nagandra Singh.
An amount of 1397 lakh would be spent over the sanctuary . Sanction had also been given for survey of the change taken place in forest cover under Dhar, Barwani and Jhabua distt after catchments area treatment work and a forestation in these districts. Survey would be conducted by forest survey of India.
The Vice Chairman NVDA Pradeep Bhargav informed that bridging gap in between created and used irrigation potential a strategic plan has been chalked out. The plan would be implemented by a special state level cell giving details he informed that Rs 94 lakh per year would be spent over the task. He said that to protect the reservoirs of major projects of the valley a separate cell would also deal the silt control treatments. The cell would identify the very high and high silt yielding catchments areas on the index of Soil and Land use Survey of India These identified areas would be taken up for catchments area treatment and forestation. Where ever applicable these works would be taken up under National rural employment guarantee scheme. He informed that for non forest area capable NGOS would be deployed as implementing agencies. In forest areas the CAT work would be carried out by the forest cell of NVDA. An important decision had also taken to hand over the huge quantity of hard rock excavated during the construction of various projects. It was decided to hand over it to the mining department of the concerned district.
Chairman Nagendra Singh gave nod to carry out survey and investigations in proposed projects by latest available techniques. The administrative sanction of revised estimate of Rs. 360 crore was also accorded for lower Goi project of Barwani district.
