17 Aug : It is a tough task to provide good low-cost food to poor persons in these times of dearness. In view of this, Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Babulal Gaur has instructed to provide full food to poor persons at the rate of Rs 5 per person through urban bodies. The scheme to be known as ‘Ram Roti Yojana’ will be launched on the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on September 25 in four mega cities of the state – Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior.
Urban Administration Minister Shri Gaur talked to Secretary Urban Administration and Development Shri S.P.S. Parihar and gave instructions to him in this connection.
Under the ‘Ram Roti Yojana’, the urban bodies will distribute food packets at the rate of Rs 5 in the morning and evening from counters at bus stands, railway stations and people staying at Ren Baseras. Funds for the scheme will be arranged by the urban bodies themselves. The urban bodies have been instructed to give special attention to the quality and quantity of food. Every packet will contain six ‘rotis’, cooked vegetables, onion, green chilly and pickles.
The urban bodies can also make contact with Nandi Foundation for preparation of these food packets. Time will be fixed for food packet distribution in every city. The concerning municipal corporations have been instructed to provide adequate number of food packets at the distribution centres so that any person can have these packets.
