Bhopal:Tuesday, September 30, 2008:Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan underscored the need to spread awareness about wildlife conservation and create a feeling of love for them among the people. In his message on the occasion of Wildlife Protection Week, the Chief Minister said that forest cover has depleted due pressure of population on forests and requirement of increased forest produce. This has resulted into decrease in areas where wild animals can roam freely.
Shri Chouhan said that apart from conserving forests and wildlife, the state government is undertaking efforts to ensure development of the people living in villages surrounding protected areas. He noted that the schemes for protection and development of wildlife through public participation have yielded encouraging results.The Chief Minister said that every year in the first week of October, Wildlife Protection Week is observed with a view to spreading awareness about conservation of forests and wildlife and instilling love among people’s hearts towards them. He hoped that measures for wildlife conservation would get a new dimension though joint efforts.
