Bhopal:Saturday, August 23, 2008 : The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has, in a letter to the Union Minister for Human Resources Development Shri Arjun Singh today, said that the state government has taken prompt action for allotment of lands for higher and technical education institutions of national level sanctioned by the Central Government in Madhya Pradesh. Shri Arjun Singh and his Ministry have been apprised of this from time to time, he added.
The Chief Minister informed in the letter that Madhya Pradesh government has taken prompt action for allotment of lands for I.I.T. sanctioned for Indore, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal, School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal, World Class Central University and permanent campus of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak. The Union Ministry of Human Resources Development has been apprised of this in writing. Shri Chouhan has written this letter in reply to Shri Arjun Singh’s letter sent to him on August 12, 08.
The Chief Minister informed in the letter that after earmarking 298.897 acre of land at village Bhauri in Hujur tahasil of Bhopal district for Indian Institute of Science Education and Research and School of Planning and Architecture its map and Khasra were sent on August 22, 2008 to the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Human Resources Development. Similarly, 437.63 acre government land has been earmarked at village Singraul in Mhow tahasil of Indore district for Indian Institute of Technology. As Government of India has said that 500 acre land is necessary, the state government is committed to allotting it. The map of this 437.63 acre land has been sent along with the letter. Shri Chouhan informed that this land is immediately available and remaining about 65 acre land is being earmarked. For this, 25 acre private land would have to be acquired which may take some time to follow the procedure.
Shri Chouhan further said that according to a letter received from the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development 500 acre land is needed for World Class University. The state government has informed about availability of 492 acre land in village Sheelkheda in Sehore district in its letter dated December 12, 2007. The officials of the Union Ministry of Human Resources have also been urged to make spot inspection of this land. Shri Chouhan further informed that now he (Shri Arjun Singh) has said that 492 acre land is not suitable for the university. Upon this the state government has directed the concerning officers to select another suitable land for this purpose. A proposal in this regard would be sent soon.
The Chief Minister informed that the land desired for Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak is revenue forest and forest land, for which diversion would be required under Forest Conservation Act from Union Ministry of Forest and Environment. For this, an application has been received form the Vice Chancellor with his letter on 5th of this month by the Collector of Anooppur. The diversion proposal is being prepared by the DFO, Anooppur, which would reach the state government by end of this month. After this, the necessary permissions would be issued at state government level and the proposal would be forwarded to the Union Ministry of Forest and Environment.
Shri Chouhan has expressed gratitude to Shri Arjun Singh for sanctioning higher education and technical education institutes of national level for Madhya Pradesh. He said that the state government is committed to providing lands free of cost for these institutions. He hoped that in future also Madhya Pradesh would get assistance with the help of Shri Arjun Singh for bringing about qualitative improvement in the field of higher education.
