Bhopal:Thursday, October 30, 2008:Special attention is being paid to planned teaching and assessment with a view to ensuring quality improvement in the educational institutions being run by Tribal Welfare Department.
With this in view, principals of these institutions have been asked to set a monthly target themselves from November and implement the same. These instructions have been given by Commissioner Tribal Development Shri Jaideep Govind. After reviewing the monthly target, Deputy Commissioner Tribal Development will undertake grading of the schools.
The targets to be set by the principals will include ensuring students’ regular attendance, commencement of classes by teachers on schedule time, availability of teachers in every class and keeping the students under control if the class teacher of any class is not available.
The principals will also keep a constant watch over the teaching method of every teacher, style of students’ studies and their satisfaction with practical classes, guiding the teachers to make less use of paper work and identify hard spots subject-wise and then solve them one by one, undertake every student’s assessment to know in which subject he is weak etc. The principals will also inspect one class everyday. They will also see whether other arrangements including drinking water are adequately available.
They have also been told to take classes of their subject everyday. They will have to to submit the copy of monthly targets set by them to the concerning Deputy Commissioner by the second of every month apart from the self-assessment report of the targets achieved during the preceding month. They will undertake weekly reviews with teachers with a view to ensuring improvement.
Deputy Commissioners and District Coordinators Tribal Welfare have also been instructed to the chalk out such monthly targets which can be achieved by the principals themselves and it can be assessed at senior level. They have also been asked to undertake grading of schools after assessing the work of every principal as per the monthly target and send its report to the office of Commissioner Tribal Development.
