2 July : School Education Minister Smt. Archana Chitnis has said that disciplinary action will be taken against the principals and staff of those schools where regular studies have not begun after opening of schools on July 1. She has instructed field staff of the Education Department to undertake intensive inspections of educational institutions.

According to Smt. Chitnis, various important guidelines were set by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan at the review meeting of Education Department on June 16. As per the guidelines, all the Class-I and II Officers posted in every district will adopt a school under the guidance of the district collector. These officers will also ensure that studies are undertaken on a regular basis in this school.
She informed that the main works to be undertaken during the current academic year include preparation of school-wise action plan, admission process, implementation of student welfare programmes, distribution of free cycles and uniform, helping students fill up applications for stipend, students’ insurance scheme, midday meal, rainwater harvesting, Hariyali Abhiyan, arrangement of latrine, clean drinking water, training to principals and subject teachers, mutation of school land, eye and mouth check-up and holding meetings of Parent-Teacher Associations.

Smt. Chitins has instructed divisional Joint Directors and District Education Officers to implement the educational calendar with sincerity, ensure unit-wise division of courses for time-bound completion, arrange guest teachers etc. She said that beginning of the academic session from July 1 is quite important since text-books have been distributed and studies of the first unit have already been completed in the month of April. Therefore, it is now imperative to ensure that regular studies begin in the schools right from July 1. During the initial period of the new academic session checking of homework given for summer vacations should also be made. The unit of April should also be repeated. Full periods should be conducted even if only one student is present in the classroom.
Smt. Chitnis said that it has been observed that the students who get admission for the first time use to loiter on the school premises needlessly due to which regular classes are not conducted in the name of continuance of admission process. This year, a decision has been taken that this tendency will be done away with firmly. The admission process will be taken up after classes are over. Principals should not remain glued to their chambers but inspect classes and premises from time to time. All works except studies will be taken up after classes are over, she reiterated.
