12 Sep ; Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Shri Tukojirao Puar has said that holding of Second Asian All-Star Competition-2008 at Bhopal is a matter of pride for Madhya Pradesh. Players from 20 countries are going to take part in the competition at T.T. Nagar Stadium, Bhopal. Shri Puar said preparations are in full swing and all out arrangements are being made for the players coming from around the world as well as country. He instructed the officers not to leave any stone unturned at any level in the organisation of this international level event.
Shri Tukojirao Puar informed that a rooms for dope control, physiotherapy and call rooms will be constructed for the competition. The minister instructed the officers to ensure provision of all the requirements and arrangements at T.T. Nagar Stadium for this international level competition. He hoped that organisation of such a big event will boost the morale of state’s players and sports lovers. He said that tight security arrangements have been made for all the players, officers and visitors.
As many as 150 star athletes of 20 countries including China, Japan, Indonesia, Qatar, Korea, Kazakhstan, Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Uzbekistan, Thailan, Philippines, Vietnam, Sri Lanka are going to take part in the competition.
The events in the men’s category include 100 m, 400 m, 800 m and 5000 m races, 400 m hurdles, high jump, triple jump, shot put, discus throw and javelin throw. In all ten event will be organised.
In the women’s section eight events will be held including 100 m, 400, 800 m and 1500 m races, 100 m hurdles, high jump, long jump and discus throw. First, second and third prizes will be given in all the events in cash. First prize winner will walk away with U.S. $ 3000, second prize winner will get U.S. $ 2000 and U.S. $ 1000 will be given to third prize winner.
