Yasha Sharma, Bhopal:Thursday, June 12, 2009: Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Babulal Gaur has said that people should come forward to monitor development works being implemented in the city and keep a watch over public property. This will lead to improvement in the quality of works.
Shri Gaur was addressing a function here today after bhumi poojan of Rs 50 lakh asphaltation and sewerage line construction works at Anand Vihar. Mayor Bhopal Shri Sunil Sood presided over the function.
The Urban Administration Minister said that children parks will be developed in the slum areas as well. As many as 100 such parks will be developed in Bhopal. The work of developing a park in Bagh Mughalia slums will start within 15 days. He said that no doubt the responsibility of maintaining cleanliness in the cities lies with the civic bodies. But there are some financial constraints. Therefore, residents of colonies should come forward in this direction with self-inspiration. This will not only lead to cleanliness in colonies but will also provide jobs to the needy persons. He cited such a scheme launched in Meghalaya. Shri Gaur said that Bhopal will start getting Narmada water by the year-end and their water woes will end for a long time. But due to heavy expenditure on this scheme, water cess may go up.
Mayor Shri Sunil Sood said that 14 km drinking water pipelines will be laid in Anand Vihar under JNNURM at a cost of Rs 3.81 crore. For this 52 overhead tanks will be constructed. He said that these works are being undertaken without any discrimination with the cooperation of the state government.
