Bhopal:Saturday, August 16, 2008:The Governor, Dr. Balram Jakhar, while addressing Jashn-e-Jamhooriyat function here today at Ravindra Bhawan as chief guest, exhorted the people to create love towards independence by organising various programmes and work unitedly for the nation’s progress and prosperity with full might and sincerity. He said that ‘we do not want divisive elements but want those citizens who can unite the country and call themselves Indians’.
The Governor praised the efforts being undertaken by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Culture Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma in this context.Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the true tributes by the people to freedom fighters would be working honestly in their respective fields.
The Chief Minister said that freedom did not come to us on a silver platter but is the result of martyrdom of thousands of freedom fighters. He said that notwithstanding non-violence movement, the contribution of fighters of armed struggles for independence cannot be underestimated. Throwing light on the revolutionary episodes of martyrs Ramprasad Bismil and Chandrashekhar Azad, the Chief Minister said that they and their companions’ sacrifices are unmatched.
The Chief Minister said that Madhya Pradesh is rekindling memories of these great freedom fighters and contribution of state’s freedom fighters is also being collected, preserved and publicised. For this work, he praised Culture Department.
Shri Chouhan said that apart from preserving memories of freedom fighters, the state government is also going to build first War Memorial of the country in Bhopal to perpetuate memories of those who laid down their lives for the sake of the country. Memories of over 30 thousand martyrs, who laid down their lives defending the country after independence, would be preserved in this memorial.
Culture Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma said that the work of perpetuating memories of great martyrs of India’s freedom struggle is continuing. He said that Swaraj Sansthan Sanchanalay’s budget has been increased from Rs 31 lakh to Rs 3.50 crore for this purpose.
At the outset, the guests inaugurated an exhibition based on paintings and sculptures focusing India’s freedom struggle. Governor Dr. Balram Jakhar and Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan released 11 books on freedom struggle and one thousand-minute video album containing 110 memorable patriotic songs. The album has been titled as ‘Jan Garje’ . The books released on this occasion included ‘1857 ki kranti: Sagar evam Narmada kshetra’ by Dr. P.S. Mukhariya, ‘1842-57: Bundela Vidroh’ by Dr J.P. Mishra, ‘1857: Swadheenta sangram mein janjatiya balidan’ by Dr. Shivnarayan Yadav, ‘1857: Balwa naheen mukti sangram’ by Shri Nirmal Sharma, ‘1857: Swatantra Sangram ke ranbankure’ by Shri Laxman Bhand, ‘Shahzada Firoz Shah’ by Dr. Suresh Mishra-Bhagwandas Shrivastava, ‘Jang-e-Azadi mein Mahakaushal’ by Shri Bhagwandas Shrivastava, ‘Lajpat Rai the unkown’ by Shri Vishnu Sharan, ‘Unneswi Sadi mein Bharat mein Adivasi vidroh’ by Dr Suresh Mishra, ‘Jangal satya and jangal satyagrih’ by Shri Ghanshyam Saxena and ‘Swadheenta andolan mein Bundelkhand ki patra-patrikaen’ by Shri Santosh Bhadoriya.
Culture secretary Shri Manoj Shrivastava threw light on the background of Jashn-e-Jamhooriyat function. Shri Shrivastava said that the work of preparing freedom fighter gazetteer of every district is also in progress. He welcomed the guests by presenting them bouquets.
The function began with National Anthem followed by Vandematram rendered by Shri Umesh Takaswar and Sushri Venus.
The function concluded with the patriot songs rendered by top classical singer Sushri Shubha Mudgal.
