Bhopal:Saturday, October 4, 2008:With the construction of over four thousand roads a new era has begun in the history of rural Madhya Pradesh. Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna, so far construction of four thousand 252 roads in rural areas has been completed.
These rural roads measuring 20 thousand 204 kilometre have opened new dimensions for employment, education, health, economic progress for seven thousand 513 villages of the state.
Giving the information the Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, Shri Rustam Singh said that an amount of Rs. four thousand 962 crore has been spent on construction of these roads. The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna was launched on December 25, 2000 by the Government of India with an aim to link far flung villages with the all weather roads. Madhya Pradesh has always been among pioneer states of the country since beginning of the scheme.
