Bhopal:Monday, October 20, 2008:Forest Department has instituted Shaheed Amrita Devi Vishnoi Puruskar-2008 with the aim to honour government and non-government individuals and institutions putting in best and distinguished services in the field of protection of forests and wildlife.
Nominations for this award have been invited by November 20, 2008. In all, five awards will be given. Detailed information about the award and format of application form are available on Forest Department’s website.
The main award carrying Rs one lakh cash and citation will be given to Gram Panchayats/rural institutions, committees constituted under joint forest management and non-government voluntary organisations for preservation and augmentation of forests and wildlife while four awards to the tune of Rs 50 thousand and a citation each will be given to individuals (both government and non-government) for undertaking best work in protection and augmentation of forests and wildlife (showing exemplary courage and understanding).
Detailed information about the awards and application in prescribed proforma can be obtained from the nearest office of Chief Wildlife Warden (Forest Circle), Area Director of Tiger Reserve, Divisional Forest Officer (Regional/Wildlife) or Forest Department’s website www.mpforest.org. Application filled in the prescribed proforma in five copies must reach the nearest concerning office by 5 pm on November 20, 2008. Applications from rural areas along with recommendation of District Panchayat/Janpad Panchayat can be sent to Conservator of Forests (Regional/Divisional Forest Officer). Applicants have been advised to attached maximum number of photographs, video clippings, paper cuttings etc. of their excellent work. Shaheed Amrita Devi Vishnoi Puruskar-2008 must invariably be inscribed on the envelop.
November 20 has been fixed as the last date for sending nominations to the offices of Conservators of Forests Regional/Divisional Forest Officer in Madhya Pradesh. Applications must reach the offices by 5 pm.
