Bhopal:Thursday, December 11, 2008: Government of India’s National Medicinal Plants Board, Madhya Pradesh Forest Department and Madhya Pradesh Rajya Laghu Vanopaj Sahkari Sangh will jointly organise Vindhya Herbal National Van Mela 2008 from December 12 to 17 at Bhopal’s Bittan Market Dussehra Maidan (Arera Colony). The Mela will be inaugurated at 5 pm on Friday, December 12.
The demand of medicinal plants and herbs found in jungles has increased manifold at international level. With this in view as many as 287 stalls will be set up at the Mela for providing a common platform to medicinal plant collectors and growers, traders and manufacturers. As many as 70 stalls have been reserved for primary forest products cooperative societies of various regions for displaying herbs and processed products. Besides, 40 stalls will be utilised for extending free medicare camps. Established Ayurved practitioners and Vaids will remain present at the Mela. Various cultural programmes and activities will be held daily with a view to increasing the Mela’s attraction.
These programmes include Badhai and Akhara dances of Bundelkhand, Matki dance of Malwa, Gangaur dance and Nimar and Karma Shaila dance of Mandla.
