Bhopal:Monday, April 21:National Awards for Children’s Welfare have been instituted by Union Woman and Child Development Ministry for honouring individuals and organisations doing excellent work in the field of children’s welfare. Three individuals and five organisations putting up excellent work in this field would be honoured every year. An individual awardee would be given away Rs one lakh while the organisation would get Rs three lakh as award money. Letters of citation would also be given along with prize money.Collectors can forward the proposals from their respective districts along with their recommendation to the Directorate of Woman and Child Development of the state by May 31. After scrutiny, the State Government would forward the proper proposals to Government of India. The National Selection Committee would finalise the names of individuals and organisations after sorting out proposals received from various states. The eight-member committee would be headed by Union Minister of State for Woman and Child Development while the members would include Secretary of Woman and Child Development Department, one representative each from Education, Health and Social Justice departments of Government of India, President, Bharatiya Bal Kalyan, Chairman, Paediatric Society of India and Joint Director, Woman and Child Development Ministry.
The applications for individual level National Children’s Award would have to be sent along with two attested copies of applicant’s photograph. The entries of the application form would include name, address, telephone number, date of birth, sponsor’s name, details about the institution and affiliation to the institution, jurisdiction, details about works undertaken by the applicant at various places, number of children, documents establishing excellence in the works undertaken by the applicant, quantum and nature of financial aid received from Union or state government or any other source, recommendation made by a state government officer and brief life sketch of the applicant.
Similarly, the application for institution-level awards must have the name, mailing address, telegram address, telephone number, person to be contacted and his post, inception year of the institution, details of works undertaken by the institution, qualitative assessment of works done by the institution, nature and quantum of financial aid received during the last three years from Union or state government or other sources, information of inspection by a competent authority of Union or state government, last report of institution’s inspection and remark in detail. Besides, institution’s last two years’ annual reports and auxiliary documents can also be sent with the application.
The National Children’s Award would be announced every year on Children’s Day on November 14. The felicitation function would be organised at a date and time convenient for President of India.
