1.75 Crore litre capacity reservoir to be built at arera hillBhopal:Thursday, August 7 :A huge reservoir would be built with a view to supplying drinking water to entire city under Narmada water supply projects.
The land for this 1.75 crore capacity reservoir has been given by Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Secretariat on the condition that the land ownership would remain in its name.Construction of 95×85 metre reservoir is proposed on the land in Bapu Van of Vidhan Sabha. The distance of the sump tank from westward boundary wall of the State Assembly would be at least 15 metres.
Similarly, the eastern portion of the proposed reservoir as well as open space towards MLAs’ Rest House would be enclosed with a boundary wall. There would be only one entry point at the proposed site.The height of the wall towards Birla Mandir and the roads near it would be raised by three feet.
The responsibility of round the clock security, maintenance and beautification etc. would lie with Public Health Engineering Department which would act in coordination with Vidhan Sabha Secretariat. The department would have to keep the Secretariat posted on every work from time to time.
The Narmada water supply project is being implemented at a cost of Rs 274 crore. The balancing reservoir would cost Rs five crore.
Diametre of the reservoir would be 300 feet. Around 200 pillars of 20 feet height would be erected for construction of the reservoir which would store 1.75 crore litres of water.
Safe drinking water would be supplied to various overhead tanks from the reservoir for supplying it to consumers.
