2 June , Bhopal:Four days after Income Tax Deprtment raided his brother’s premises in the wake of alleged medicine purchase scam by the state health department, Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi has resigned from the cabinet on Monday.
"I visited the Chief Minister’s house. He was not present. I left my resignation at the Chief Minister’s House", Vishnoi told reporters and added that "I have resigned on my own. I have not been asked to resign".
However, party sources said the BJP central leadership has taken the issue of IT raids in the election year very seriously and asked Bishnoi to tender his resignation with immediate effect.
Asked if he would get nomination for coming assembly polls, Vishnoi said polls were "not important to me but the party. The type of allegations levelled against me has forced me to resign" to check the opposition onslaught against the party and the government," he said.
Vishnoi said the Income Tax Department is taking action on the basis of material available during the raids and "the whole truth will come out soon".
Earlier, addressing a press conference, MPCC chief Suresh Pachouri and Leader of the Opposition Jamuna Devi sought a CBI inquiry into the alleged multi-crore rupee scam in the purchase of medicines by the state’s Health Department. Courtsey : DD NEWS
