19 June:With the assembly polls only a few months away, Madhya Pradesh cabinet today took a slew of decisions including regularisation of illegal colonies and implementation of Rani Durgawati Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Schemes for the poor.
The cabinet meeting, presided by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, also decided to set up Institute of Hospitality Training for imparting training in Tourism Sector and also approved the Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan (MISA/DIR Political Detenues) Samman Nidhi Rules-2008, an official release said.
It also decided to develop Pannsa as a holy city, as announced by the CM recently, and accorded sanctions to different departments in this regard to execute the cabinet decisions.
With regard to regularisation of illegal colonies, the Cabinet decided to immediately initiate action for regularisation of such colonies that have come up prior to January, 2008, it said.
There were 2,024 such colonies which have been considered illegal due to various legal flaws and procedural violations.
Although legislations have been framed at the government level to regularise illegal colonies only 200 colonies have been regularised in the last five years, the release said.Courtsey : DD NEWS
