Betul:Monday, February 24 :Thousands of youths belonging to the families displaced due to Narmada valley projects are now on the way to become skilled worker of industrial and service sector firms .Once laborer these youths got this opportunity in the Employment fairs organized by Narmada Valley Development authority. Out of four Employment Fair organized so far the success of the attempt was highly enthusiastic.
In these Employment Fairs 3879 rural youths belonging to the displaced families were picked up by various Industrial and service sector units. It may be mentioned here that NVDA had started employment fairs, unique of its kind to provide employment opportunity to the youths of the families displaced and rehabilitated under various projects of the valley. These fairs are organized in the vicinity of rehabilitation sites and industry and service sector firms are invited to put their stalls in these fairs .The employment seeker youths are gathered in these fairs through publicity. The required counseling is being done by the officials and firms interacts with job seekers .Their capabilities are being viewed and on the basis they are selected for “on the job” training and employment.
For Maan and Jobat project affected families employment fair were organized at Dhar and Alirajpur. At Dhar fair 20 firms picked up 163 youths while 9 firms picked up 930 youths at Alirajpur employment fair. Similarly such fairs were organized at khirkiya and New harsood,chanera for Indira Sagar project affected families . At chanera as much as 1158 youths were selected by 7 firms while at Khirkiya 1628 youths were picked up by 12 firms. The ‘Man behind the move’ and Vice Chairman NVDA Pradip Bhargav informed that next fair is scheduled at Kannod in Dewas Distt.. He said that looking at the success of this experiment more employment fairs would be organized in various project affected districts.
