Bhopal,12 May:Maihar, the famous pilgrimage centre and Shaktipeeth of Madhya Pradesh would soon be developed on the pattern of Haridwar. This information has been given by Narmada Valley Development Minister Shri Nagendra Singh on the occasion of intensive tour of rural areas in Satna district.
Shri Singh informed that this depends on the Bargi canal emanating from Narmada. Since the Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan had made up his mind that this canal must be extended up to Satna district, therefore, work in this connection was launched with full intensity. After reaching Satna district, Bargi canal would pass through Maihar. Hopes of rapid construction of the canal have heightened by the fact that tenders worth about Rs 2000 crore have been passed and work has already begun. Those entrusted the construction work have been told in clear terms that it should be completed at the earliest.
As per plans a stream would be developed on the banks of the canal at Maihar like Har Ki Paudi in Haridwar. Due to this the devotees would be able to have a Darshan of Maa Sharda Devi along with having a dip in the pious Narmada river. Shri Nagendra Singh said that all the impediments in the path of bringing Bargi canal to Satna district have been removed and a sweet dream is going to be fulfilled soon.
During the intensive tour, Narmada Valley Development Minister Shri Nagendra Singh gave a parting gift to Himanshi and Rangoli of Rangpurva village and Asma of Korbar village by giving away National Savings Certificates worth Rs six thousand each under Ladli Laxmi Yojana. Each one of these small girls would get Rs one lakh 18 thousand on turning major. Leaders of the area, workers and officers also accompanied Shri Singh during this tour.
