Bhopal:Friday, July 18:Teachers putting in excellent work in the spheres of education and culture would be given Maharishi Ved Vyas National Award every year on the occasion of Guru Purnima. The Rs one lakh award would be given by Swaraj Sansthan under Department of Culture.
This announcement was made by Culture, Public Relations and Mineral Resources Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma at the state level function of Madhya Pradesh Teachers’ Association here. Those present on the occasion included School Education Minister Shri Jagannath Singh, Finance Minister Shri Raghavji, former chief minister and incumbent M.P. Shri Kailash Joshi.
Culture Minister Shri Sharma said that teachers carry out the important work of future building. They also discharge the responsibility of development of Indian culture and ethos. With this in view, the Culture Department has decided to honour dedicated and committed teachers every year.
School Education Minister Shri Jagannath Singh said teacher has always been given a lofty place in Indian society. The state government has undertaken several works for qualitative improvement in education during the last four and a half years. Results are improving with each passing year. The state government has made special efforts for promoting girls’ education. Schoolgirls are being provided two pairs of uniform and textbooks free of cost. About the teachers’ demands, he said that the state government would undertake efforts to fulfil their demands by adopting a sensitive attitude.
Finance Minister Shri Raghavji said that the present state government has been sensitive towards employees demands. Fifty percent of D.A. has been merged in the basic pay. Besides, teachers’ pay scales have been increased beyond their expectation, he added.
Former chief minister and incumbent M.P. Shri Kailash Joshi said that he would hold talks with the state government on the demands put forth by the teachers at this function. The function was also addressed by president Madhya Pradesh Teachers’ Association Smt. Hemlata Jain, Shri Purushottam Chatruvedi, national vice-president of Shaikshik Sangh Dr Vimal Prasad Agrawal, regional organisation secretary Shri Ompal Singh and Shri Vijendra Bhadoria.
