Bhopal:Friday, August 27 :Lower Lake has become number one water sports centre of the country. The second position goes to Kerala.
The above information was given by the sportsmen of Madhya Pradesh Kayaking and Canoeing Sports Association set up on the bank of Lower Lake to the Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Babulal Gaur today. Shri Gaur was inspecting the different construction works and pathway by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) today morning. Youth from all over the country including Manipur, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and other states is getting training in Kayaking and Canoeing at this Centre.
Shri Gaur instructed the BMC officials to get the pathway constructed from the old Wind Mill to Khatlapura Ghat on the banks of the lake and clean the place regularly. The Municipal Corporation has constructed 330 meter long and 6 feet wide pathway with interlocking tiles. Shri Gaur also instructed to construct changing room and toilet near the centre for the sports persons. Because of the beautification works here, the place has become a beautiful place of tourist attraction.
Boat Club at Neelam Park
The Urban Administration Minister went to the Neelam Park near Lily Talkies and enquired about the progress of proposed construction of Boat Club there. BMC Commissioner Shri Manish Singh said that the M P Tourism Development Corporation has prepared a proposal for Boat Club costing Rs 55 lakh. As soon as the budget is sanctioned, construction will start, he said. Shri Gaur instructed to develop parking place near the proposed Boat Club. Shri Gaur viewed the Lower Lake from the Ghat near the Kali Mandir and is satisfied with the view of the Upper Lake from there.
While inspecting the Motia Talab Shri Gaur instructed to ban completely washing of vehicles there, and instructed to remove the illegal encroachment on Siddique Hasan Talab on the name of coal depot and other encroachments from there without delay. The Urban Administration Minister also inspected the deepening and cleaning work of Munshi Hussain Khan Talab. On request by Municipal Corporation President Shri Kailash Mishra, Shri Gaur visited the statue of Indira Gandhi at GAD junction. Shri Mishra requested that barricades should be constructed around the statue so that vehicles could not damage the statue and its pedestal. Shri Gaur instructed the concerned officials to construct barricades.
