Bhopal:Wednesday, August 20, 2008:Commissioner of Bhopal-Hoshangabad division Dr. Pukhraj Maroo has stressed the need to further improve arrangements at Ashrams and hostels. He has instructed divisional deputy commissioner Tribal Welfare to prepare proposals in this connection.
Those present at the meeting of division-level Advisory Monitoring Committee included inspector general of police Bhopal range Shri Shailendra Shrivastava, I.G. Hoshangabad range Shri Pradeep Runwal, collector Bhopal Shri Manish Rastogi, divisional commissioner Tribal Welfare Shri Ajay Jasu and all the districts collectors of the division.
The meeting reviewed implementation of provisions of SC/ST (Prevention of atrocities) Act. The meeting was informed that in all, assistance to the tune of Rs 48 lakh 82 thousand has been given in 297 cases while 150 cases are pending till July this year. Dr Maroo said that assistance amount should be calculated and paid immediately.
About improvement in the arrangements at boys and girls’ Ashrams and hostels being run by Scheduled Castes and Schedule Tribes Department, Dr Maroo said the Ashram/hostel officials should be sensitive towards the problems and difficulties faced by the inmates just like their own children. He instructed the officials to prepare code of conduct with a view to creating a better educational and disciplinary atmosphere in these isntutions.
The divisional commissioner said that inmates of Ashrams and hostels should be inspired to participate in the management.
