Bhopal : With a view to reducing infant mortality rate (IMR) and maternal morality rate (MMR), the State Government has decided to provide free health services to both expectant mothers and new-born babies at all the government hospitals in Madhya Pradesh from July 1. This new initiative will be started from Jai Prakash hospital, Bhopal.
As part of efforts to reduce MMR and IMR, the State Government has not only expanded free meals services to lower level from district but also initiated free health services to mothers and babies in the State.The State Government has issued directives to all Chief Medical and Health Officers and Civil Surgeon-Cum-Hospital Superintendents in this regard. Expectant mothers will be provided free medical facilities like delivery, caesarean section operation, medicines, all test analysis, meals, blood and transport facility from July 1.
The expectant mother will be provided transport facility from home to hospital, other hospital on referral case. Besides, the woman will also be provided transport facility to reach home on discharge. The expectant mothers have also been exempted from consumer fee. No charge for procuring prescription form for consulting doctors will be taken.
Apart from free services to women, the newly born babies will also be provided all medical facilities on free of charges. The new-born babies will be provided vehicle facilities from home to hospital and other hospital on the referral condition. The new-born babies have been freed from all consumer charges.
