Bhopal:Saturday, July 19:The Forest Department is undertaking plantation of five crore saplings during this monsoon. The novel scheme ‘My City, Green City’ has been launched in the urban areas under which saplings are being provided at the door-steps on demand.
Under the scheme, the Forest Department would strengthen ecological system by planting five crore saplings during monsoon. Two crore saplings would also be planted by Forest Development Corporation. Saplings have been grown in large number this year by the research and extension nurseries of Forest Department this year.
Urban residents and Resident Welfare Associations can contact the local forest division offices for obtaining saplings for plantation under ‘My City, Green City’ scheme. Similarly, schools, colleges and commercial and industrial institutions can also avail benefit of the scheme of planting forestry and horticulture species’ saplings.
The demand for saplings would be accepted from 9 am to 6 pm at the local divisional forest offices of the Forest Department for delivery at the specified address. Saplings would be supplied on ‘first come first serve’ basis and at fixed rates. Saplings would also be put for sale twice or thrice during the monsoon at localities and wards. Arrangements have also been made for expert help in planting saplings by charging additional money against which receipt would be given.
