Twin sisters eligible too, so far more than 60 thousand girls benefitedBhopal:Saturday, July 19:First girl of first delivery would also get the benefit of Ladli Laxmi Yojana, implemented by the state government to create a positive attitude towards girls and ensuring their better future. In view of growing popularity of the scheme provision of this has been made in the rules.
According to Woman and Child Development Commissioner Smt. Kalpana Shrivastava, the first-born girls born on April 1, 2008 or later would get benefit of the scheme. Now twin sisters and girls who have lost both the parents, would also be given benefit of the scheme. So far, 60 thousand 106 girls have been benefited under Ladli Laxmi Yojana.
Smt. Kalpana Shrivastava said that the state government has given the sanctioning powers to district collectors with a view to ensuring speedy disposal of cases and early benefit to girls. The district officers have been directed through a letter issued from the directorate level to collect certificates from all the Child Development Project Officers that no eligible beneficiary has been left uncovered under the scheme in their respective areas. Besides, forms have also been forwarded for knowing physical and financial progress every month. They have instructed to publicise the scheme in villages/majras/tolas. They have been instructed to undertaken random checking to ensure whether all the beneficiaries are getting due benefit. Instruction has also been given for holding awareness camps at Anganwadi and sector levels. A girls must necessarily be registered with Anganwadi centre within one month of her birth.
She informed that Ladli Laxmi Yojana has been started in the year 2007 by Madhya Pradesh government with a view to creating positive thinking about birth of a girl, improving gender ratio, health and education of girls and laying solid foundation of their better future especially in the rural and tribal areas. benefit is given to the girls whose parents are domicile of Madhya Pradesh, must not be income tax assesses, must have two or less children and the girl is registered with an Anganwadi centre.
