Bhopal,12 June:Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission has released the schedule of election forAmla municipal corporation’s chairman. The election would be held on June 17 from seven am to five pm. The Labour Commissioner has directed owners of factories and shops under the jurisdiction of Amla municipal council to declare weekly holiday for their workers so that they can exercise their franchise.
The circular issued by the Labour Commissioner states that it is expected from the owners of factories and shops under the jurisdiction of Amla municipal council to declare weekly holiday for their workers on June 17, 2008, the day of voting, so that they can exercise their franchise on that day without any difficulty.
The factories which run throughout the week have been asked to give two-hour layoff to the workers of first and second shifts, as has been the practice, to facilitate them to cast their votes. They have been asked to start the first shift two hours late so that workers face no problem in casting their votes. The factories which fall in the category of continuous process plants have also been told to provide voting facility to their workers turn-by-turn without harming their wages in any way.
It has also been expected from owners of shops and commercial institutions to provide voting facility to their workers. They have been asked to give weekly off to their workers on the day of voting, June 17, 2008 in place of the day fixed for weekly off under Madhya Pradesh Shops and Institution Act 1958.
