Shri Krishna’s life inspires for constant struggle against injustice : Jail Minister Shri Arya, One month’s special remittal in prisoners’ sentencesBhopal:Sunday, August 24, 2008:A colour function was organised at the Central Jail here on Sunday to celebrate Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
Jail, Law and Legal Affairs Minister Shri Antar Sing Arya attended the function at the chief guest. Principal Secretary Jail Shri Dilip Mehra was also especially present. The function was presided over by Director General of Police Jails Shri Anandrao Pawar. Shri Arya performed the Arti of Shri Krishna’s idol placed on a swing. He also unveiled a tableau prepared by jail inmates focusing on Shri Krishna’s miracles. The Jail Minister also announced one month’s remittal in the sentences off all the prisoners serving jail terms in Madhya Pradesh. Those present on the occasion included superintendent of Central Jail Shri Purushottam Somkanwar and other departmental officers.
Addressing the jail inmates, Jail Minister Shri Arya said that Shri Krishna’s life inspires people to adopt Karma and continue to struggle against injustice. Shri Krishna rid the people from the atrocities of such repressive and cruel rules as Kans, Jarasangh and Shishupal and set the precedent of leading life with mutual cooperation and harmony.
Shri Arya expressed his happiness over jail inmates celebrating Shri Krishna Janmashtami every year with fervour and enthusiasm. Shri Arya exhorted the jail inmates to follow the ideals of Lord Krishna. He said that prisoners should take a resolve that they would not commit crimes in their future life and go out of jails after purifying their hearts from malice.
Director General Jails Shri Anandrao Pawar, while throwing light on various schemes for prisoners’ welfare and rehabilitation, said that many prisoners have acquired dexterity in various arts and crafts which is also showing on this occasions in the shape of colourful tableau prepared by them and cultural programmes presented by them.
At the outset, guests were welcomed by superintendent of Central Jail Shri Purushottam Somkanwar. Prisoners presented various cultural programmes. The audience lauded the cultural programmes background music of which was composed by music teacher Shri Imtiaz Ahmad.
One hundred fifty prisoners who completed diploma in engineering were given kits on the occasion.
Those also present on the occasion include Jailer Shri A.K. Sengar, Shri Chhotelal Prajapati, sub-jailer Shri R.K. Chaure, Santosh Gaur, P.K. Singh, Sushri Samta Tiwari, Dr. Azad and Shri Rakesh Bhangre.
