9 Sep : The Farmer’s Welfare and Agriculture Department has decided to celebrate Balram Jayanti as Kisan Divas on September 13. On this occasion the department would give technical information to the farmers about getting maximum yield from the crops and their problems related to agriculture would also be solved. At the same time Rabi campaign would be started on this day with a view to increase 15 per cent production from Rabi crops.

As per wishes of the Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Yatras would be organised at Gram Panchayat, Janpad Panchayat and District Panchayat levels. Farmers and people’s representatives will participate in the Yatra. Seminars and programmes pertaining to agriculture development will be organised at Krishi Mandi Committees. Agriculture scientists and agriculture specialists will participate in the discussions to be held with the farmers. Farm production techniques like how to get more yield from less investment, use of micro nutrients, plant growth management as per recommendation after soil testing, necessary points for expansion of land and production of oilseeds etc will be discussed in the seminar. The problems faced by the farmers will also be solved on the spot. Literature written in simple language pertaining to farming will be distributed to the farmers. According to the directives issued by the department, local people’s representatives, Panchayat office bearers, Kisan Didi, Kisan Mitra, farmers belonging to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, and women farmers would be invited to these programmes. Live exhibition and exhibition of posters and panels will also be organised on the occasion. The programmes at the district level will be held through the district collector and deputy director, agriculture department.
