With a view to provide hybrid animals to the people of Rewa division, animal fairs are being organised. Animal Fair was held at Satna district last month while the next animal fair will be held at Devsar of Singrauli district. Here, beneficiaries of Sidhi and Singrauli District Panchayats and members of village forest committees will be able to buy animals. Others would also be able to buy animals with their money.
It may be mentioned here that at the animal fair held at Satna, 230 she buffaloes were sold. Average price of a buffalo at the fair was between Rs 25 thousand and 30 thousand. Milk production of a buffalo was around 10 litres per day. Such good variety she buffaloes would be provided to the beneficiaries at Devsar animal fair also.
Divisional Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Pastor has issued guidelines to the officers in connection with the animal fair. He told the officers to make arrangement to bring good variety she buffaloes and cows to the fair. He said that both the district Panchayats will sanction loan and subsidy to the beneficiaries to purchase animals. The joint forest management committees will also sanction financial assistance to their members. People are free to select and purchase animals they liked at the fair.
The Divisional Commissioner said that through the milk dairies in Rewa division efforts are on to improve economic condition of the people. Arrangements have been made to purchase milk from the animal owners through the milk unions. With these efforts milk production and collection in the division has been doubled comparing to last year.
To encourage dairy business the Sidhi District Panchayat is establishing 3 thousand litre capacity bulk cooler at Baidhan and the Forest Department is also establishing bulk coolers at Chitrangi and Devsar to keep the milk fresh for long time.
