Bhopal:Wednesday, April 16:The Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Shri Gopal Bhargava laid the foundation stone of Horticulture Professional Training Institute under Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture University’s Dry Horticulture Research and Training Centre at village Ranguan of Sagar district.Addressing the function occasion, Shri Bhargava said that farmers of the area would get information, knowledge and training about latest agriculture techniques, improved seeds, methods to increase crop yield and fresh techniques in horticulture field at this institute to be set up by Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture University, Jabalpur. This would not only lead to development of horticulture in the region but would also provide employment opportunities to local people.
Shri Bhargava informed that the institute would start functioning from the next session. Fifty students would be imparted training in the first batch. Professors have been appointed for imparting training. He said that farmers would be taught the technique of irrigating horticulture crops by using minimum water. Shri Bhargava appealed to farmers to take maximum advantage of research and training institute being set up in their area.
Addressing the function, Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture University Shri Gautam said that this institute would turn out to be a milestone in agriculture development apart from generating employment opportunities for local people. He informed that the institute would be constructed at cost of Rs 58.36 lakh while its hostel would be built at a cost of Rs 89.41 lakh.
