May 1 last date for applications: Admission test on May 18
Bhopal:April 7, 2008:The written test for admission in Excellence Schools for the year 2008-09 would be held on May 18. These schools are being run at the district headquarters by School Education Department and Tribal Welfare Department . Like previous years, this year also written test for admission would be conducted by Professional Examination Board and students would be selected on the basis of merit. Those who have secured 50 percent or more marks in class VIII are eligible to apply for admission. The medium of education at Excellence Schools would be Hindi/ English. Those students who have appeared in this year’s class VIII examinations can also appear at the admission test. These students can apply on the basis of self-proclamation if their mark sheets are not yet available.
A student must secure at least 33 percent marks in the admission test to become eligible for admission. After the admission test, a merit list would be prepared and students would be given admission against vacant seats as per the merit list. Reservation would be given to schedule castes, scheduled tribes, other backward classes and handicapped students.
The Excellence School at the district level would be the centre for admission test for the students of that district. Wherever, there would be excess number of candidates, the principal of the concerning Excellence School would determine an additional admission test centre. Application forms can be had from offices of the Excellence School/Block Education Officer. It is compulsory to submit OMR Sheet along with application form.
The application forms with OMR Sheet would be accepted at the office of Excellence School by May 1, 2008. The admission test would be conducted under the control and supervision of the district collector with the coordination by principals and secretaries of Excellence School, District Education Officer/Assistant Commissioner Tribal Welfare. The test for admission in class IX of Excellence Schools would be conducted on May 18 from 8 to 10 am.
