Special efforts are being undertaken in the state for increasing women’s participation in the dairy sector. Due to these efforts, 445 women’s dairy societies have been formed under MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation.
These societies collect 40 thousand litres of milk everyday. The more than 15 thousand members of these societies have also been imparted training in animal husbandry. At present, these women’s cooperative dairy societies are operative under Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur and Gwalior dairy federations. Meanwhile, the National Women’s Fund has sanctioned loans worth Rs 5 crore for the extension of animal husbandry activities of these women’s self-help groups.
