Bhopal:Friday, September 5, 2008:State level Teacher’s Day function was held in the state capital with dignity on Friday. On this occasion 12 teachers from across the state were felicitated for their excellent work during the year 2008 while 13 teachers who were decorated with President’s National Awards in 2007 were also honoured. Specially present on the occasion were School Education Minister Shri Jagannath Singh and Minister of State Shri Paraschandra Jain.
Felicitating the teachers, School Education Minister Shri Jagannath Singh said that the responsibility of brightening new generation’s future lies on the shoulders of teachers. He called for streamlining methods of education and studies in the context of changing times and requirements. Shri Singh also remembered and paid tributes to former President the late Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
Minister of State Shri Paraschandra Jain said that due to incessant efforts by the state government, pass percentage of high school exams has risen to 58 from 29. He congratulated teachers for their contribution in this success.
Principal Secretary School Education said that educational set up would have to be extended in cater to the needs of growing population. Commissioner Public Instructions exhorted the teachers to shed negative attitude and put in their all out efforts. He said that due to efforts undertaken during the last four years, results of higher secondary exams have gone up to 80 percent from a mere 20 percent earlier. Commissioner of Rajya Shiksha Kendra Shri Manoj Jhalani described teachers’ role as vital in building a sensitive and prosperous society.
Director Public Instructions Shri Avdhesh Kishore Mishra and Joint Director Shri K.K. Pandey welcomed the guests by presenting them mementoes. Joint Director Shri O.P. Sharma proposed a vote of thanks.

The 12 teachers who were presented the state level awards included Shri Rajesh Parashar; U.D.T. of Kesla (Hoshangabad), Shri Madhur Mohan Mishra; Lecturer of Badwani, Shri Ravindra Kumar Gupta; Head Master of Silua (Jabalpur), Shri Babban Prasad Tiwari, Lecturer of Harda, Shri Rajesh Singh Thakur, Teacher of Sagar; Shri Sanjay Kumar Johari, Assistant Teacher of Madhav Nagar, Ujjain, Dr. Dinesh Kumar Shsrivastava, Lecturer of Dindori, Dr. Sunil Kumar Agrawal of Barnagar (Ujjain); Smt. Archana Tiwari; Head Mistress of Hoshangabad, Shri Rajneesh Jain, Head Master of Bhama (Narsinghpur); Smt. Shanta Soni, Principal, Indore and Shri Vinod Kumar Mudgal, teacher of Hoshangabad district.
The 13 teachers, who are recipients of President’s National Award for the year 2007 were also honoured on the occasion.
