Bhopal:Saturday, April 12:The Chief Minister, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that adequate power supply should be ensured in rural areas during the summer season. Shri Chouhan asked the officers to explore the possibilities of purchasing power from other states apart from supplying single-phase power to rural areas for at least 12 hours a day. The Chief Minister was reviewing power supply situation here today. The Minister for Energy, Shri Gauri Shankar Shejwar was also present.The Chief Minister also instructed the officers to provide funds necessary for ensuring adequate power supply in the rural areas to Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board. The meeting was informed that after cutting of crops, power supply in the rural areas is increasing gradually.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the situation after installation of transformers and rebate given to farmers on their pending elelctricity bills. The meeting was informed that about 1.25 lakh farmers have availed of the rebate and remitted pending bills to the tune of about Rs 62 crore.
Those present at the meeting included Chief Secretary and Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board Chairman Shri Rakesh Sahni, Principal Secretary Finance Shri Ashok Das, Energy Secretary Shri Sanjay Bandopadhyay and other concerning officers.
